Millions of Indians were ready to nest their eggs in it. But most of the Indians ready to nest their eggs in it received the shock of their life today. All of them switched to Twitter and Google in order to confirm this thing.

5G Spectrum Scam term started trending on Google as well as Twitter in no time. This confirmed the news to many. For this thing, their fury knew no bounds.

What is more important to realize is the amount of money scammers’ have gulped. The scam also refreshes the horrible memories of the 2G Spectrum scam (worth 1.76 lakh Crore INR) during the UPA Government’s rule.

The latest scam is being called the biggest scam in independent India. The money involved in this scam is said to be nearly 4.3 lakh Crore INR.

In other words, the amount gulped through this scam is three times 2G Spectrum’s amount.

What Exactly Has Happened?

The scheme is related to a variety of applications. Such as:

  • Connected cars
  • Remote surgeries
  • Augmented Reality
  • Meta

India’s Biggest Auction

The Central Government of India had kept the base amount of 4.3 Lakh Crore. However, the government got only 1.5 Lakh Crore. The fact was not easy for the opposition to digest.

It was called the greatest spectrum auction in the history of independent India. Instead, it has now turned out to be the greatest scam in the history of this country. The auction lasted nearly 7 days. The auction lasted on August 1, 2022.

Jio Was The Biggest Bidder

Businessman Mr. Mukesh and Jio, his company, placed the biggest bid during the auction. The amount of jio’s bid is said to be around Rs 88,078 Crore INR.

Details Of Other Bidders

Although Jio had won more than half the auction with the highest bid. Other businessmen and companies were present during the auction. For this reason, we suggest you go through the following list:

  • INR 212 crore (Adani Group to purchase 400 MHz spectrum). The group bought the spectrum in the 26 MHz band.
  • INR 43,084 crore (Bharti Airtel). The company also paid this amount to buy a 19,867 MHz spectrum.
  • Vodafone Idea has also paid the government Rs 18,784 Crore to buy spectrum.

Given below is the list of cities likely to be upgraded for the scheme:

  • Ahmedabad.
  • Bangalore.
  • Chandigarh.
  • Chennai.
  • Delhi.
  • Gandhinagar.
  • Gurugram.
  • Hyderabad.
  • Jamnagar.
  • Kolkata.
  • Lucknow.
  • Mumbai.
  • Pune.

The first phase of 5G services is likely to be rolled out for these 13 cities during August 2022.

Reason of Controversy

It was easy for the government to collect up to 5 Lakh crore INR for the scheme during the auction, considering the money companies spent during the auction.

On the other hand, the government sold the spectrum at much lower prices. What is more important to realize is the fact that the government sold the 5G spectrum at a much lower price than the 2G Spectrum (1.76 Lakh Crore, UPA Government sold).

Mr. A. Raja, Former Telecom Minister, and DMK’s MP have questioned the Narendra Modi Government for selling the spectrum for peanuts. His question has raised the eyebrows of all opposition parties as well as common Indian nationals. The MP has also demanded an immediate probe into the auction.

The government is now facing the heat. All nationals are calling BJP a group of scammers and criminals. Furthermore, the 5G SPectrum Scam BJP hashtag is also trending on Twitter for this reason.

Further updates on this matter are still awaited. Keep coming back as we will keep you posted about it.
