Many HDFC customers in Chennai received a jaw-dropping surprise. Many customers of the bank became millionaires and billionaires for some time. The balance available in their bank account reached as much as 13 crore INR.
Mr. Narean, one of the HDFC bank customers, received the shock of his life after he used his debit card to pay 1000 INR at a petrol pump.
The message displayed INR 2.2 crore balance in his account after the payment.
He immediately reported it to the bank authorities. The bank authorities wasted no time in blocking his bank account.
The online banking facility also showed INR 2.2 crore in his account. He could not transact and faced the problem throughout the day.
Several customers were left surprised. One more customer got his mouth wide open after seeing INR 13 crore balance in his bank account.
Another customer’s account balance showed INR 50 lakh. One more customer had only INR 300 balance in his bank account. He was dumbfounded after he saw INR 1.2 crore balance in his bank account.
This problem happened with customers of HDFC bank’s Burkit road and GP road branches. More than 80% of this pan-India has been fixed, said the bank officials. The debit services of all accounts affected were blocked immediately. The issue occurred during the routine-maintenance check.
